Directors of New Prairie Bands
Jared Jaggi, High School Director of Bands
I am super excited to be the High School Director of Bands at New Prairie. I am very fortunate to be teaching in a great school district. I am from Buchanan, Michigan, and began my passion for music when I decided to play the trumpet in 6th grade band. One of the best musical experiences I had was when I got to tour Europe with a concert band filled with musicians my age. My directors created an experience that cultivated my enthusiastic passion for music, and life-long memories made. After that moment, I decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life recreating that experience for my future students.
I decided to attend Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to become a band director. While I was at WMU, I marched in the 300-person Bronco Marching Band, performed in the University Wind Symphony, University Symphonic Band, University Concert Band, and the Bronco Basketball and Hockey Bands. During the 4 years I marched in the BMB, I gained skills in teaching, leadership, and teamwork. I also gained memories and friends that will certainly last forever. I still remember to this day when I vigorously cheered, with my friends and fellow BMB members, for Bronco football to beat Michigan. Along with cheering with my friends, I got to perform Malagueña in front of over 100,000 people. Even though we lost 49 to 3, it was still one of my best moments as BMB member.
At WMU, I also founded the WMU Chapter of United Sound, while I served as the Rehearsal Assistant for the University Concert Band. United Sound is a national organization that provides instrumental opportunities for students with learning disabilities. The chapter focuses on students of WMU. In our first semester, participating students learned how to play an instrument for 3 months and then performed with the University Concert Band under my direction. In December 2022, those participating students will perform with the United States Army Band at the highly anticipated international music conference, The Midwest Clinic.
In May of 2022, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's of Music Education with Summa Cum Laude honors. During the summer of 2022, I accepted the position of the High School Director of Bands at New Prairie United School Corporation. I am super excited to be a Cougar and looking forward to the accomplishments and memories we can make together. GO COUGARS!

Kendell Fowler, Middle School Director of Bands/Assistant High School Director
Words can not describe how grateful I am to teach at this school district. To start off, I am a saxophonist from Indianapolis and I graduated from Ball State University in 2019 with a bachelors in music education and a minor in jazz. At Ball State, I studied classical and jazz saxophone with professor Nathan Bogert, Bob Eason, Freddie Mendoza, and more.
During my time at Ball State, I performed with groups such as Ball State’s Wind Ensemble, Premier Jazz Ensemble, various jazz combos, Pride of Mid-America Marching Band, and Ball State’s Symphony Orchestra. Notable performances include: College Band Directors National Association Conference with the Wind Ensemble, North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference with the Ball State Saxophone choir, and College Orchestra Directors Association National Conference with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra.
In 2018, I was the winner of the Ball State Undergraduate Concerto Competition and was a featured soloist with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra and performed a recital in Japan at Mukogawa Women's University.
Throughout my time at Ball State, I have been awarded the Meloy Elizabeth Scholarship, Fuller Eugene & Marjorie Memorial Scholarship, Dale Baker Scholarship, George Wolfe Scholarship, Larry McWilliams Scholarship, and the Phi Mu Alpha Erwin C. Mueller Award. I held office as the Alumni Relations Officer for the Delta Lambda chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. I was on staff for various high school marching bands such as New Castle, Pendleton Heights, Westfield, Noblesville, and I will be looking forward to being on staff for the Marching Cougars this coming summer.
